Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health & Safety strategy, framework, policies, and standards.
- Foster a proactive culture of safety, wellbeing, accountability, and organizational resilience across all business units and locations.
- Oversee workplace safety programs, risk assessments, inspections, audits, and corrective action initiatives to mitigate operational and workplace risks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.
- Lead emergency preparedness, incident response, crisis management, and resilience activities, including ERO/BHV programs, exercises, and recovery planning.
- Oversee the reporting, investigation, analysis, and resolution of incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety-related events.
- Partner with Human Resources and business leaders to promote employee wellbeing, workplace health, psychological safety, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Act as the organization's primary advisor on Health & Safety matters, providing expert guidance and support to management and key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, emergency services, external partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor performance, risk exposure, and compliance through reporting, dashboards, and key performance indicators, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Manage governance, certification, documentation, budgetary, and administrative requirements related to Health & Safety.
- Strengthen organizational readiness and business continuity by identifying emerging risks and enhancing preventive, response, and resilience capabilities across the organization.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Business Administration, Human Resources, Engineering, Security Management, or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Professional certification in Health & Safety, Risk Management, or Emergency Management (e.g., HVK, MVK, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) preferred.
- BHV certification required within 12 months of appointment.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in Safety, Wellbeing, Risk Management, Business Continuity, Security, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in workplace risk assessments, incident management, audits, inspections, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, risk management principles, emergency response, and business resilience practices.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and engaging with regulators and external stakeholders is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, manage multiple priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
- Fluent in English, Dutch, and Papiamentu; Spanish is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel and provide support during incidents, emergencies, audits, and critical operational events when required.
