Job description
As an Underwriting Officer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Evaluate individual and group insurance risks and determine appropriate terms and premiums.
- Gather and review underwriting documentation, coordinating with internal and external professionals as needed.
- Draft policy terms and conditions, maintain accurate underwriting records, and monitor risk portfolios.
- Identify trends and loss drivers, implementing corrective measures where necessary.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting policies, processes, and systems.
- Collaborate across departments on premium handling and policy administration.
- Provide guidance and expertise to junior underwriters, ensuring high quality standards are upheld.
Job requirements
As an Underwriting Officer, you meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of underwriting experience, with strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
- Extensive knowledge of underwriting regulations, insurance policies, and reinsurance principles.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamentu.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- A proactive, solutions oriented mindset.
- Ability to adapt effectively within a dynamic work environment.
