Job description

As an Underwriting Officer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Evaluate individual and group insurance risks and determine appropriate terms and premiums.
• Gather and review underwriting documentation, coordinating with internal and external professionals as needed.
• Draft policy terms and conditions, maintain accurate underwriting records, and monitor risk portfolios.
• Identify trends and loss drivers, implementing corrective measures where necessary.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting policies, processes, and systems.
• Collaborate across departments on premium handling and policy administration.
• Provide guidance and expertise to junior underwriters, ensuring high quality standards are upheld.

Job requirements

As an Underwriting Officer, you meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of underwriting experience, with strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
• Extensive knowledge of underwriting regulations, insurance policies, and reinsurance principles.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamentu.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• A proactive, solutions oriented mindset.
• Ability to adapt effectively within a dynamic work environment.
